An Alan Bennett award-winner, a Charlotte Brontë adaptation and a magical musical are first up for the Altrincham Garrick after it announced its line-up for the new season.

The 100-year-old-plus playhouse on Barrington Road announced its line-up for the new season starting on September 16 with tickets on sale on its website from this week.

First are Alan Bennett award-winner The History Boys, Charlotte Brontë adaptation Jane Eyre then The Wizard of Oz during the October Half Term.

The festive period brings a festive treat in the form of A Vicar of Dibley Christmas: The Second Coming and this year's panto Jack and the Beanstalk.

Into the New Year there are other adaptations of the Mark Haddon novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and the John Steinbeck novel Of Mice and Men.

Into the spring and the summer the new seasons rounds off with Vardy v Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trial and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.

The Altrincham Garrick's artistic director Joseph Meighan said: "We are delighted to present our 2024/2025 season showcasing a range of productions to celebrate the richness of the arts in Altrincham. We look forward to welcoming audiences old and new to experience the magic of the theatre with us."

February 24 - March 1: Oppenheimer

March 17 - March 23: The Addams Family

April 4 - April 17: The Worst Witch

May 8 - May 18: Of Mice and Men

June 2 - June 7: Vardy v Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trial

June 23 - June 29: Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
