A distribution centre for a former department store chain is set to be turned into a large warehouse. 

The former Littlewoods site on Lester Road, Little Hulton is the focus of redevelopment after its closure in 2018. 

It was shut alongside two other distribution sites owned by retailer Shop Direct, now called The Very Group. 

Now, construction is set to begin on a new warehouse in place of the site this autumn, with it due to be finished by the end of 2025.

Called 'Bolton 330' and measuring 330,000 sq ft, it will feature electric vehicle charging points, a green roof to support biodiversity, rainwater harvesting and an outdoor gym for employees to use. 

Salford City Council approved plans in December, which stated there would be a unit for storage and distribution/industrial use, with additional offices, parking, vehicular access and landscaping.

Developer, Logicor, is one of the largest owners and operators of modern logistics and distribution properties in Europe.

The site's proximity to the motorway network, including the M60, M6, M61 and M62, provides access to 60 per cent of UK businesses and 20 million consumers within a two-hour drive.
