A 'Warm Hub' is to reopen to anyone who is struggling to heat their home over winter.

The hub at the Limelight Centre in Old Trafford is run by the housing association L&Q.

From December 1, it is to reopen every Friday from 3pm to 6pm.

The hub allows residents to get a drink and some soup as well as to socialise with others in their community.

Matt Corbett, director of L&Q Foundation, said: "The cost of living is a challenge for low-income households.

"We surveyed our residents last year and 60 per cent of them expected they would have to choose between heating and eating over the winter.

"This was before the higher costs for heating homes took hold with [energy regulator] Ofgem announcing energy prices will rise again in January.

"In times of economic hardship, our duty to help those who are less well-off is more important than ever. This is why we are re-opening our hubs this year, offering local people a warm meeting place and a home away from home."
