Two Poundland stores are set to open in Altrincham and Sale after the sites were bought in the wake of the collapse of Wilko.

The Poundland stores are set to open in Stamford Quarter and Stanley Square this weekend alongside others across the country.

The sites were bought by Pepco Group, in the wake of the collapse of Wilko when it went into administration under PwC over the summer. Pepco Group said it would prioritise the staff for roles in the saved shops.

The Poundlands started to open on September 30 with those in Altrincham and Sale, as well as others across the country, taking the total to make the switch to more than 30.

Darren Kay, retail director, said: "We are proud as, to date, we are the only retailer that's delivered on its promise to re-open these stores and to offer roles to their people.

"We look forward to welcoming customers old and new to these stores this weekend."
