More than 2,000 runners are set to race in the Altrincham 10K which is making its return next month.

This year’s race is being held on Sunday, September 17 and is set to see a huge 2,500 runners take part.

The race, organised by events company RunThrough, is the third Altrincham 10k and will start and finish in the town centre.

Ben Green, co-founder of RunThrough, said: “We are delighted to be returning to Altrincham for a third consecutive year and building on the success of the previous year’s events to become a regular fixture of the Altrincham event scene.

“We are extremely grateful to Trafford Council for their support and collaboration, enabling us to put on what is set to be a fantastic event.

"We can’t wait to welcome all of the runners who will be taking part no matter if this will be their first or fiftieth time running a 10k.”

Cllr Cath Hynes, Trafford Council’s executive member for leisure, arts, culture, and heritage, added: “We’re always happy to work with partners like RunThrough. The Altrincham 10k will be a fantastic event to watch but even better to take part in.

“It will be a great way to keep fit and challenge yourself, and runners can also raise money for a great cause at the same time.”

Distance and route markers will be placed throughout the course and marshals will be on hand to keep runners on track and offer encouragement.

Participants will be able to access their official result immediately after crossing the finish line via the RunThrough Results page and will receive a themed medal and free access to photographs taken at the event.
