A Trafford rowing club team has scooped a bronze medal at a national competition.
The Trafford Rowing Club Juniors won bronze at this year’s British Junior Rowing Championships on Sunday.
A record 18 juniors from Trafford Rowing Club competed in the championships at Strathclyde Park in Motherwell and the quad Kirsten Robertson, 16, Bamboo Galbraith, 16, Maisie Kirkpatrick, 16, and Florence Whistance, 15, came home with the bronze medal.
Graham Whistance, chairman at Trafford Rowing Club, said: “Conditions were extremely challenging with high winds and driving rain for much of the weekend.
“Rowing on the Bridgewater Canal we aren’t used to the conditions that Strathclyde Park threw at us this weekend.
“I’m incredibly proud of all of our juniors and their coach Martin Chandler who have been working hard across the year to get to this point.
“They all held their own against the best in the country and the way they supported each other across the weekend was amazing to see. For our club to come away with a medal is the icing on the cake.”
