A man in his 60s was seriously injured after being assaulted by a gang of thugs during a "terrifying" burglary in Altrincham.
Three men broke into a home on Ashley Road on Friday at around 10.30pm and attacked the 66-year-old owner, leaving him with "serious injuries".
Police said he is now in a "stable" condition.
The burglars stole a number of items including jewellery.
No arrests have been made as police appeal for witnesses.
Two of the offenders have been described as white, aged approximately 24 to 25 and around 5"7 in height. They both had slim builds and were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.
The third offender has been described as white and older with a round face. He was also wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable Luke Miller, of Greater Manchester Police's Trafford division, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim who is thankfully now in a stable condition although he is lucky not to have suffered more grievous injuries as the offenders were clearly armed and dangerous.
"We are committed to tracking down those responsible.
"Our enquiries are ongoing and as part of our investigation we want to hear from anyone who may have been in the Ashley Road area of Altrincham at the time.
"Anyone who may have witnessed anything - or may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident - is encouraged to get in touch."
