AN Urmston care home has been put into special measures for failing to meet care quality standards.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspected the Manorhey Care Centre, in Stretford Road, and deemed it as inadequate in two key areas namely safety and being well led, as requiring improvement for effectiveness and caring and was given a good rating for responsiveness.

The report deemed it inadequate overall.

Manorhey can accommodate up to 83 people within the three-storey building, which provides care to people with dementia and nursing and residential care.

The inspector said: “At this inspection we noted improvements had been made in relation to submitting notifications, staff development and providing people centred care. However, at this inspection, we found continued breaches the of the regulation regarding the need for consent, equipment maintenance and good governance and significant concerns relating to the safe management of medicines.”

The inspector warned that a home in special measures would be kept under review and provided that the CQC had not decided to cancel the home’s registration, it would inspect Manorhey again within six months.

A spokesman for the home's owner's said: "Senior managers are supporting staff at Manorhey care home in order to ensure that the necessary improvements are made and sustained.

"We are confident that we have made the necessary improvements and look forward to demonstrating this when CQC next visit."
