DON your favourite fancy hat and celebrate the royal wedding in style this weekend by joining in the fun at Dunham Massey's annual Rose Queen Festival.

The Rose Queen Festival parade takes to the streets on Saturday with its famously colourful parade before returning to Dunham Village Hall for a royal wedding-inspired, fancy dress garden party.

The festival will see twelve-year-old Altrincham schoolgirl Freya Young, a pupil at Loreto Grammar School, crowned Rose Queen.

A very excited Hallie Royle, aged 10, of Bowdon Church School, will be named this year's Rose Bud.

Both Freya and Hallie have lived in Dunham Massey their whole lives and are delighted to have been chosen for their roles.

Freya said: "We are both looking forward to the day and to raising money for their our chosen charities, St Ann's Hospice and North West Air Ambulance."

Dunham Massey's annual Rose Queen Festival will take place on Saturday, May 19 with a royal fancy dress theme to coincide with the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The parade will leave Dunham Massey Hall at 1.45 pm and proceed through the village to Dunham Village Hall, where the crowning will take place at 2.45 pm, to be followed by a royal wedding themed garden party.

Organisers have confirmed that there will be a fun dog show, Morris Dancers, traditional games, climbing wall and lots more.
