WORLD Cup fever is gripping Trafford with local businesses vying for glory in a five-a-side football tournament for charity.

The Ronaldo's and Messi's of the Altrincham business world are being invited to showcase their skills on the pitch, alongside their work colleagues, by entering their company team into the 1-day, 5-a-side football tournament. All proceeds will go to The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.

Organised by local marketing agency RMS, the event will kick-off at 2pm on Thursday, June 7, at Timperley Sports Club, with sixteen teams battling it out to be crowned champions.

Various trophies will be handed out in the evening, when food and drink will also be served.

Water, snacks and food will be provided, along with pitch-side entertainment for those who get knocked-out in the early stages.

Ruth Shearn, managing director of RMS, said: “This tournament has been designed to give local businesses a fun way to network and get into the spirit of the World Cup while also raising money for a great cause.

"We are extremely grateful to Jarrod Sykes, from logistics company OPTFS, and also chairman at Timperley Sports Club for helping us by providing the facilities and professional referees who’ll keep things in order on the day.

“We must also thank Blacks, Myerson, Parfetts, Swizzels and Together for sponsoring various elements of the event.

"Their support means that we will be able to donate all entry fees to The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.”

Places in the tournament will be allocated on a first come basis.

If you think your business has what it takes to become champions, you can enter a team at a cost of £100 or make a donation by contacting tom.moss@thisisRMS.co.uk by Friday, May 25.
