AN ALTRINCHAM church hall has benefited from a fresh lick of paint four decades on.

St George’s Parish Church hall was given the decorating makeover 40 years after it was last tackled, thanks to staff at the Dulux Decorator Centre in West Timperley.

To the delight of the Rev Edmund Betts, the 20-strong team of volunteers organised the charity painting day and gifting their time and materials to renovate the hall.

The DIY project at the hall took two days to complete and was ready in time for its regular dance class sessions, cycling club and meetings of the 6th Altrincham Beavers, Cubs and Scouts groups.

Rev Betts said: “We couldn’t be happier with the results of all the hard work that the team from the centre and their volunteers did for our community church hall. These efforts will make sure that the church hall remains a vital part of Altrincham’s vibrant community.”

Shirley Herring, a member of the team, said: “Having served the local community for decades as a place for people to hold celebrations and events, we thought it was time to give the church hall a much needed facelift.

“We were delighted with the number of people who got involved. This help meant we were able to paint the reception area, kitchen and other areas, so a lot was achieved in just two days.”
