RICHARD Gorman struck at the death to keep Urmston Hockey Club's men’s seconds' unbeaten run going as they drew 3-3 with South Manchester men’s seconds in Division Five North South.

Man-of-the-match Aaron Kelly was at the heart of a battling performance with Stuart Higginbotham getting his first goal since returning to the club and captain Ric Clarke netting a penalty stroke.

Andy Power netted again as his penalty stroke sealed a 2-2 draw for the firsts against Alderley Edge men’s seconds in Division Two (West), with Matt Podmore dominant in a man-of-the-match display.

Mike Tonge had earlier levelled for the Greens but, despite large periods of dominance, they could not find a winner.

The ladies’ firsts were also left to rue missed chances as they were held 1-1 against Prescot ladies’ firsts in Division Two South West.

Rachel Kelly weighed in with the Greens’ only goal, while Gemma Booth’s powerhouse performance in midfield earned her the players’ player award.

The ladies’ seconds and thirds fell to strong opposition as they lost to Stockport Bramhall fourths and Oldham seconds respectively.

The thirds battled against a resolute defence but could not get a share of the spoils despite stellar performances from Beth Harper, Jen Power, opposition’s player Danieca Clegg and players’ player Grace Gauntlett-Hessing.

Isobel Seed put the ladies’ seconds ahead in Division Three but Oldham hit back hard and edged the Greens in a 2-1 thriller, while the men’s thirds lost 4-0 to Wilmslow fourths in Division Eight South East, with Ray Adamson picking up the man-of-the-match award.
