A SALE nursery has been shortlisted to win ‘Healthy Nursery of the Year’ at the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) Awards.

Cherubs Private Day Nursery on Broad Road in Sale, is a finalist along with five other nurseries from all over the UK, including Glasgow, Birmingham and Penrith.

Maths legend and former children’s TV Presenter Johnny Ball will be announcing the winners at a glittering awards ceremony at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on June 30.

More than 80 parents wrote glowing testimonies to help Cherubs become one of six finalists for the prestigious award.

Ruth Kyndt, a parent at Cherubs Private Day Nursery in Sale said: “Cherubs deserve to win the award because the food they provide is great. It is freshly prepared on site and provides a varied and healthy diet. Recently they provided parents with a bag of ingredients for a delicious soup to make at home with their children, which I thought was a great idea.

“I chose Cherubs for my daughter partly because of the amazing outdoor space they have. My daughter loves exploring the big garden at the nursery and gets to learn and play in the mud kitchen and herb garden.”

Cherubs has an acre of grassy adventure gardens where children exercise, play and learn every day. The nursery serves homemade food from a healthy and varied seasonal menu, which was awarded the Bronze Catering Mark from the Soil Association.

Cherubs Nursery Manager Samantha Malan said: “We have our fingers crossed that we will be named Healthy Nursery of the Year, but even if we don’t we’re absolutely thrilled that so many of our parents think we deserve to win. We’d like to say a big thank you to every single one of them for taking the time to vote for Cherubs.”

NDNA Chief Executive, Purnima Tanuku said: “This is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to Cherubs for being an example of the amazing, inspirational work happening in the childcare sector every day.

“Our nursery awards are particularly special as they are the only ones voted for by parents.”
