EMIRATES Old Trafford has bagged a bronze trophy at the prestigious Sports Business Awards.

The award follows the shortlisting within the best non-sporting use of a venue category, for the impressive concerts and events the venue is able to deliver.

Angela Hodson, head of conferences and events at Emirates Old Trafford, said: “We were thrilled with the nomination for the award, and are absolutely over the moon that we’ve been awarded a bronze trophy at the Sports Business Awards.

"This is a real testament to the fantastic offering at Emirates Old Trafford, specifically the incredible external space which our impressive operations team are able to transform from a world famous cricket pitch to an internationally acclaimed concert venue.

“We hosted two of the world’s biggest artists in 2016; Beyoncé and Rihanna, and this year was even more impressive. Within days, we welcomed 50,000 fans for a sold out Courteeners concert, followed by the incredible One Love Manchester benefit concert which saw a further 50,000 attendees descend on the venue in remembrance of the Manchester terror attack victims.”

Led by Ariana Grande, the star studded line up of the One Love Manchester benefit concert included Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Liam Gallagher, Coldplay and Katy Perry to name just a few.

The concert was held out of respect of the 22 victims who lost their lives during the horrendous Manchester Arena attack, and Emirates Old Trafford bosses say they were immensely proud to show its support to the victims their families and the city.

The Sports Business Awards were presented at a glittering event, held at The Brewery in London.

Emirates Old Trafford Business Development Manager, Dan Whitehead attended the awards to represent the club ceremony on June 2.

Dan said: “The Sports Business Awards have become well known within the conferences and events community, and securing a trophy in the best non-sporting use of a venue category is really exciting for us. It shows the fantastic quality of Emirates Old Trafford as not only a major conference venue to suit all events, big or small, but as a host to major international concerts.

"We look forward to entering the event next year and would love to go for gold!”
