TRAFFORD’S first ‘modular’ hotel, made entirely from shipping containers, has opened its doors in TraffordCity.

The 220-bedroom Holiday Inn Express Manchester, which is located next to EventCity, opened its doors on May 18.

One of the first Holiday Inn Express hotels in the UK to be built using a new ‘modular’ construction technique, the venue has been built using purpose-built steel shipping containers complete with premium fully finished interior fixtures and fittings, incorporating full height windows, carpet, wallpaper, ceiling and light fittings all of which were installed before being delivered to site.

Peter de la Perrelle, managing director of Tower Hotel Management, operators of the new hotel, said: “This has been a fantastic project for Tower Hotel Management to see through from its conception to launch, and, as the official partner hotel for EventCity, and being next door to intu Trafford Centre, there’s already a strong demand for beds.

"EventCity has some huge shows coming up this year and we’ve been taking bookings well ahead of opening, with a full house for our first weekend.

“The hotel is Holiday Inn’s latest design with cleverly designed modern rooms to maximise space, focus on technology and enhance the entire guest experience.

"It’s perfect for a comfortable and convenient stopover whether on business or enjoying leisure time within this ever-growing TraffordCity destination. The planned arrival of the Metrolink line in several years’ time will only increase the hotel’s appeal.

“We’ve all been counting down the days to launch and preparing to hit the ground running when the doors open.”

The hotel is a project by the joint venture, Topland Group, Marick Capital and Mill Lane Estates. Tower Hotel Management, part of the Peel Group, has been awarded the management contract to operate the new Holiday Inn Express hotel at TraffordCity, Manchester.

Located on a 1.75 acre site at EventCity, the hotel is the official partner for the popular events venue and will provide a convenient stopover for leisure and business visitors.
