SALE Nomads’ next production is a comedy, Shakers, by John Godber and Jane Thornton.
Shakers is an oh-so trendy cocktail bar where everyone from the check-out girls to the chinless wonders, from the luvvies to the local lads, want to be seen.
Shakers gives an amusing glimpse of this world as seen by four long suffering waitresses, Carol, Adele, Nikki and Mel.
It exposes the reality lurking behind the plastic palms and Pina Coladas.
The waitresses are played by Sandie Cowle, Jenny Hollinshead, Kathleen Valentine and Rachel Vose Outside are the Bouncers - four murky minded heavies who protect the girls and give the audience a glimpse into the antics of life outside Shakers’ doors.
This section is an excerpt from a second play by John Godber appropriately called Bouncers.
Anna Sillitoe, making her directing debut, said: “Rehearsals have been a scream. Both these plays create caricatures of people we all know and love to laugh at.”
