WE have heard that homes near Altrincham Market are worth a whopping £274,928 more than rest of region – and now it has been revealed that house-sellers in Altrincham make the biggest profit in the North West.

According to estate and lettings agents, Bridgfords, in 2016 sellers of homes in Altrincham made an average profit of over £150,000 - more than anywhere else in the North West.

The average prices in Altrincham in 2016 were more than double the average for the North West as a whole and over the last five years house prices in Altrincham have risen by just under 20 per cent.

The findings, revealed today, form part of new analysis published by Countrywide Research for Bridgfords.

The research shows that while Altrincham sellers made the highest average profit in the North West, other leafy south Manchester suburbs did well too. Knutsford sellers made an average profit of over £130,000 (£132,269) and Alderley Edge and Wilmslow vendors made just under £110,000 (£109,512) on their house sale in 2016.

The average price of an Altrincham property in 2016 stood at £293,000, more than double the North West average at £141,000. Keiron Humphreys, Regional Director at Bridgfords, said: “With its mix of period semi and detached houses together with outstanding schools, it comes as no surprise that Altrincham has long been a popular choice for families. A market town at its heart, Altrincham continues to evolve.

“Work on the first phase of Altair, an ambitious multimillion pound regeneration project bringing with it new homes, retail and leisure facilities, is underway. While Altrincham’s strong transport links have helped shape the town into an affluent commuter suburb.

"Manchester’s Metrolink, close proximity to motorways (M6 and M5) and an international airport a five mile drive way, have all helped cement Altrincham as a firm favourite with those looking to buy and rent in the region.”
