THREE projects in Trafford have received a cash injection of almost £30,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

There are 98 projects across the North West sharing £4,077,871 in the latest round of grant awards.

The funding is to support a diverse range of projects that help people to improve their skills, meet new people and strengthen their communities.

Three projects in Trafford received grants of almost £10,000 each.

One award went to a G-Force project, in Altrincham. The group was granted £9,999 will be used to create a community centre and youth club for Altrincham.

The group claim that the positive activities provided at the new community centre will reduce isolation and bring the community together to support disadvantaged people.

The second grant went to Sport Works Cheshire for Supporting Disabled and Young People project in Urmston and Partington.

The £9,732 grant will be used to deliver swimming and lifestyle coaching to small groups of children and young people with disabilities who do not have access to supported activities.

The project aims to improve the health and wellbeing of participants and provide a period of respite for their parents and carers.

The third project to receive funding was Sale-based Trafford Centre for Independent Living.

It was awarded £8,647 to its Walks for All initiative. This project supports disabled residents to improve their health and wellbeing by participating in local health walks.

The funding will also be used to develop maps so participants can go on self-guided walks, helping to address social isolation and improve overall health and wellbeing.
