TRADING Standards has issued a warning to residents after a recent spike in rogue traders conning people in the borough.
The public service is urging people to never do business on the doorstep after reports fraudsters have been targeting homes in the Trafford area.
Men have been cold calling homes offering to clear gutters, jet wash driveways and work on rooves.
A spokesperson for Trading Standards said: “Rogue traders will always want to do the work immediately. The price may start out low but quickly escalate to hundreds, maybe thousands of pounds. The work they carry out is usually badly done, if it has been done at all.
"Such men may appear genuine but in the event of problems, impossible to trace. Never take their word for it - always get quotes from other tradesmen. Ask friends, family & neighbours for recommended tradesmen. If in doubt - keep them out.”
