POLICE have released CCTV footage following an armed robbery on a delivery truck in Urmston.

A delivery driver was unloading stock in Humphrey Lane, at the side of One Stop Stores, shortly before 10.10am on Wednesday September 28, when he was attacked.

A green Ford Focus estate pulled up alongside the delivery truck and two men got out of the car, while a getaway driver stayed behind the wheel.

The first robber, wearing a ski mask, a dark-coloured jacket and a light-coloured hood, climbed on to the tailgate of the truck.

The second, who was wearing a light-coloured hoody, assisted him by taking a large quantity of cigarettes from the truck and put them inside the Ford Focus.

After noticing what was happening, the delivery driver pushed a trolley in the direction of the first burglar, causing him to jump off the tailgate.

He then brandished an eight-inch knife at the delivery driver and a female member of staff who came out of the store after hearing the commotion.

The trio then made off in the car in the direction of Stretford Road.

Police are appealing for information and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has any information about the Ford Focus, which had a registration plate starting with X497.

Detective Constable Paul Calderbank, of GMP’s Trafford borough, said: “This was a pre-meditated robbery where the offenders have targeted a delivery truck and brandished a dangerous weapon at two people who were left understandably shaken.

“I am appealing to anyone who has any information about this incident, particularly the vehicle they used, to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and quote the reference number 616 of 28/09/16, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
