TRAFFORD pupils have been personally thanked by the England squad after their motivational video to kick off the Euros caught their eye.

Leeroy Parkinson’s pupils at Davyhulme Primary School made a 3-minute motivational video for the England team ahead of the Euros.

Set on a background of defining moments in England’s footballing history, the pupils offer heartfelt words of encouragement for the team, who face Russia at the Stade Velodrome on Friday.

Written and performed by the pupils, the video begins: “Every few years it’s the same thing, what has happened in the past but we can’t let that define our future. All we have is now. This moment.”

It continues: “We’ve had the sublime moments and the horror moments some we can’t control others are there for the taking. Seize this moment, grab it, own it.

“We are fierce lions, hunting for our prey, our prey is that trophy. Don’t live with any regrets.”

After some enthusiastic cheers and chants of ‘Come on England, come on boys’, the video ends with a black and white montage with ‘We Believe’ emblazoned on screen.

Leeroy was hoping the video would reach the team before their match and, after totting up almost 13,000 video views, he and his pupils got their wish.

The official England Football Team Facebook page, which boasts more than 6million fans, commented on the video.

The message said: “Thank you to all the pupils at Davyhulme Primary School for sending us this brilliant video message. Everyone in the England camp, including Roy Hodgson, all of the players and coaching staff really appreciates your support. Enjoy Euros 2016 and best wishes to all of you #TogetherForEngland.”

Following the message of thanks from the England squad, Leeroy said: “It is just fantastic, as a teacher I am always looking at ways to inspire children with their writing. Being able to use the Internet to share work with the world is so powerful and for the children it means so much to have their idols appreciate and enjoy their hard work.”
