A MAN was rescued after falling down a 'muddy trench' at a building site in Sale.
Firefighters were called to an address in Ashlands at 4.50pm on Tuesday.
A fire service spokesman said: "It was a work site. He'd fallen from quite a height into a muddy trench."
The ambulance service was also on the scene and the man - thought to be in his 30s - was wrapped in a special stretcher.
Firefighters used 9m ladders and line equipment to winch the man to safety.
The spokesman added: "We managed to get him to the top and carried him to the ambulance."
Police also attended the incident.
