TRAFFORD’S Sinatra Wayne Devlin is hoping to take the Irish country charts by storm with his new single.

Singer Charlie Landsborough has given Urmston singer Wayne permission to record his multi-award winning hit song ‘What Colour is the Wind’.

The song, released in 1994, made Landsborough an instant country music star and Wayne is hoping for similar success.

Landsborough said: “What Colour is the Wind is inspired by the words of a blind child to her father and this song, with the help of the Irish people, transformed my life.

“I’m delighted now that Wayne has recorded a new version. I’m sure that through his sensitive interpretation, his love for the song will be evident to all whose ears it falls upon.”

Wayne, whose family hail from Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland, is better known for his rat pack style crooning but has had recent success with his version of the traditional Irish song ‘Danny Boy’.

New Jersey fighter and former IBA world cruiserweight champion Bobby ‘The Celtic Warrior’ Gunn has chosen Wayne’s version of Danny Boy to walk out to in his next super match.

Wayne said: “What Colour is the Wind is an absolutely beautiful song; the music and the lyrics really touched me and I believe there is no finer song for me to follow on from Danny Boy than this.

“I am thrilled that Mr Landsborough has given me permission to record and release this song.”

Wayne’s version of ‘What Colour is the Wind’ is now available for 99p from all online major music stores, including Amazon and iTunes.
