THE Love Sale Moor group have created a video explaining why they are opposed to the erection of a store on a village car park – as the leader of the council announced some big news.
The Facebook group started a petition after it was announced that Kirkland Developments would be submitting an application to build a store on the site of Warrener Street car park by the end of the year.
The petition has currently around 1500 signatures and the group created a short film highlighting why certain traders and residents are opposed to the development.
The campaign video comes after Love Sale Moor staged a protest at the Kirkland Developments’ public consultation last month.
The film has had more than 600 views since it was published on Youtube yesterday.
This morning the leader of Trafford Council, Sean Anstee, tweeted that he has ‘taken the decision to reject the sale of the land at Warrener Street’.
I've taken a decision to reject the sale of land at Warrener Street and will work with you to develop future options @lovesalemoor

The tweet has had an overwhelming positive reaction, with many thanking Cllr Anstee for making the decision. The Messenger is yet to receive official confirmation of this decision from Trafford Council.
Ward councillor Mike Freeman, who conducted his own survey to determine public opinion, said Cllr Anstee's decision demonstrated the power of a community standing together.
He told The Messenger: "The majority of responses were opposed to the proposal and I would have represented these views in the planning process.
"I think this decision demonstrates when communities come together and speak as one they have a strong voice and it's the role of a local councillor to channel that voice.
"I send congratulations to the Sale Moor campaigners who have run a very successful campaign.
"This has got to be, for me, the start of something in Sale Moor. I look forward to working with them in the future."
