RESIDENTS are being asked to give up some of their time to ensure people in Greater Manchester don’t go hungry this winter.
Food redistribution charity FareShare is calling for volunteers for Tesco Extra Altrincham from Thursday December 3 to Saturday December 5 to help collect food donations for people in need this winter.
All of the food donated will be delivered to FareShare’s Regional Centre in Greater Manchester before being redistributed to more than 188 charities and community organisations in the region which feed over 13,100 people each week.
Nick Carr-Brown, General Manager of FareShare Greater Manchester says: “Each volunteer can help us collect enough food for 500 meals in just three hours – and the more volunteers we have, the more food we can collect to help reach more people in need. It really is a fun and rewarding experience to be involved in one of the biggest food drives in the country and something that you can do with your family, friends and local community.”
