A BRAVE Stretford woman who lost two children at birth is holding a fundraiser for the charity that helped her cope through the darkest hours.

Victoria Finn and husband Colin suffered the devastating loss of two daughters in as many years.

On August 15, they’re holding an evening to support Sands – a charity that funds research into reducing neonatal and stillborn deaths, and counsels families through bereavement.

“It’s devastating and it breaks your heart; knowing that you’re not going to be bringing your new baby back from the hospital; but having to bury them instead,” said Victoria, 26.

“We wanted to give something back to the people that helped us through it.”

The couple lost daughter, Violet, in June 2013 after Victoria contracted a severe infection that passed onto her baby.

The following year she had complications while delivering Phoebe, who died during labour and was stillborn.

While the couple were left grief-stricken, it also took an immense toll on their children.

“My seven-year-old daughter, Maddison, took it very badly,” explained Victoria. “She was really looking forward to having a baby sister.

“She really struggled. She lost her hair and was crying every night.

“Sands helped us through it. They taught me the ways I could help her and now she’s back to her happy self.”

The fundraising event at Power League in Trafford Way, M17 8DD, will include an array of prizes, including a signed Manchester United football, match tickets and an iPad.

Raffles, a children’s entertainer and games will feature during a fun-packed family evening between 7pm-12pm. £5 per ticket. Children under five for free.
