THE Guardian's appeal to find the missing names in a trophy winning photograph elicited lots of feedback from our readers.

David Bowker, who is pictured on the left of the photo and now lives in Denver, Colorado, sent the pic which shows the Wilmslow Modern School(Wycliffe Avenue) footballers lifting the trophy in 1962.

We can now officially name all of the players in the photo thanks to the combines efforts of Dave Tutton and player Mick Mannion.

Left to right - Dave Bowker, Barry Goldsbrough, Johnny Hopley, Lady Robinson, Mick Mannion Roger Hampson, and receiving the trophy Alan Lawrence, Graham Moult, John Cochran, David Whalley, Tony Acton and David Lomas.

Meanwhile, we had heard from Syd Clayton, who was part of the school's 1961 winning team.

Knutsford Guardian:

Mr Clayton said: "After seeing the photo in the new Wilmslow Guardian regarding the winning 1962 school football team, I decided to look at an old photo I have.

"As stated the team did win the schools trophy two years running. The first was in 1960/61 season and that team also won the schools' cup as well as the schools trophy.

"Several of the those players left school at the end of the term, but there were a few who still had another year to do several of these are in the picture you printed.
