A KNUTSFORD six-year-old met up with her new namesake after winning the right to christen triplet calves in a Guardian competition.

Millie Bailey, a pupil at Bexton Primary, was given the right to name the triplet calves born to cow Bella at Cheadle Farm, earlier this month, and after farmer Mathew Webb asked for readers with suitable names for them after their extra special arrival.

The odds of three calves being born and alive are put at two million to one by experts.

Dad Chris said Millie came up with the names after remembering the names of characters from one of her favourite books.

Chris said: "She remembered the names of Milly, Molly, Mandy, of which she has been a big fan of from an early age. We go to the farm quite regularly as customers, but it was nice for her to see the Millie close up."

Mathew, 26, said: "It's the rarest birth I have ever seen in that all of them survived. Usually, one or other of them dies and even the mother does on occasions."
