LANCASHIRE County Cricket Club has released the first images of their proposed new hotel development at the Emirates Old Trafford.

The 150 bedroom four star facility will replace the current 68 bed Old Trafford Lodge hotel on the site and will be worth an estimated £2.3 million for the regional economy.

The £12 million development will be built using a £5 million loan from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), an additional £4 million loan from Trafford Council and £3 million from LCCC themselves.

76 jobs are expected to be created by the development.

The hotel will follow the original £45 million The Point development, which enabled Test Match cricket to return to Old Trafford, attracting 150,000 fans during the Ashes and the one-day international against Australia in 2013.

The Ashes is set to return in 2019, in which year Old Trafford will host five World Cup matches, including a semi-final.
