FROM randy cafe owner Rene to his long suffering, vocally challenged wife Edith and the British airmen who murder the French language.
Paul Rendel said fans of 'Allo 'Allo will feel right at home when Sale and Altrincham Musical Theatre brings the much loved wartime sitcom to the stage.
Once again the society continues on its mission to broaden its repertoire and go back to its roots. The SAMT chairman said the company, which celebrates 80 years of entertaining next year, started by putting on plays.
However, the production does have a musical element, as Paul explains: "Jeff Harpin dances a tango and Edith has her own cabaret slot and everyone puts lumps of cheese in their ears, Madame Edith's singing is less than palatable."
The comedy timing in the TV show, first screened in the early 80s and starring Gorden Kaye in the Rene role, was renowned for its comedy timing. Paul said SAMT is lucky enough to have some natural comedians in its cast.
He said: "We've got a few people who are natural comedians - Stuart Sefton who is playing Captain Bertorelli his comedy timing is absolutely perfect. You can't teach somebody that, it has to be an in-built thing."
Sale and Altrincham Musical Theatre presents 'Allo 'Allo by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft at Altrincham Little Theatre, Oxford Road, Altrincham, from March 25-28 at 7.30pm. Anyone interested on 07504 771 051 or 0161 865 0293. Tickets are also available from samtheatre.co.uk.
