A SALE based couple Christopher Millward and Victoria Bennett, are looking to build on past successes when they compete in the United Kingdom Open Championships being held this week in Bournemouth.

Ballroom dance partners now for over six years, Victoria and Christopher, who are both teachers at the town's Cadmans Dance Studio, have just returned from competing in the World Championship against some of the planet's best dancers.

The pair who are ranked fifth in the United Kingdom, have had some notable successes recently including reaching the semi-finals in the European Championship and quarter finalist's in the World Championships, which were held held at Euro Disney Paris.

But as Chris, 27, explains the couple intend to make it to the top of their profession despite holding down other jobs: "Within the next few years it is our goal to become British champions and reach the top of the world rankings in both amateur and professional ballroom dance.

"Being able to fund our career through teaching dance and helping others realise their own dreams and ambitions would be fantastic.”

The pair have to fit in a rigorous training schedule, which includes evenings sessions in Birmingham, London and Manchester.

Victoria, 28, who is a former Altrincham Grammar School pupil, will be hoping to improve on the fifth placed spot at last year's UK championship.
