RAIN didn’t deter supporters of the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) from turning out in droves to support the charity’s 20th annual open air carol concert in Hale.

The community turned out in force for the event on Sunday, December 14, raising funds for local terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children.

Organiser Julie Gray from CAFT hosted the event and was joined on stage by a 40 strong choir from Bowdon Preparatory School and four members of Blakeley Brass Band.

She said: “Many people from Hale and the surrounding areas see our carol concert as the start of their festive celebrations, so they were not going to be deterred by a bit of rain.

“It was quite surreal looking down from the stage at a sea of umbrellas, but everyone was in great spirits.

“We’d like to thank all of our guests for braving the weather to support us, plus of course everyone who helped to make the event a success.

“Every penny raised will help us to provide life-changing experiences to children in desperate need from all over our region.”

The Kelly Family and Barclays Business Hale sponsored the event, while staff from The Railway pub kept guests warm with mulled wine, with mince pies supplied by Sainsbury’s Local of Hale.

Brynleys Catering were on hand with some tasty hot food. Bernie Wilcox from Futura provided selection boxes which were kindly given out by Santa at the end of the event.
