FOLLOWING his How To Find A Husband and How To Find A Wife books, Altrincham writer Sam Almond has written two more e-books.

The first is Hooray for Mondays and the second, How to Win at Nearly Everything.

Sam, now 88 and semi-retired, said: “When I worked full-time, I didn’t like Mondays.

He said: “The first of the 92 leisure pursuits I listed was having a walk before breakfast.”

He advises taking up golf or yoga or becoming a film or TV extra. If you need romance, he reveals an older persons’ dating website.

How to Win at Nearly Everything was motivated by Sam’s own experiences.

“In business and in life, I have often lost,” he said. “However, I was determined to learn from my mistakes.”

His book has four sections. how to win against yourself, how to win sgainst the State, how to win against other people and how to win in investment, gambling and speculation.

In the first section the author claims it shows strength and not weakness if you admit you are wrong.

If you wish to beat the state you need to stick to the rules - but beating other people is more complex.

He said: "When I was 10, I lost the 100 yards race at school. At first I blamed the other boys who were bigger but soon realised I needed to practise more."

Sam’s last paragraph quotes the words of a nine-year-old girl who wrote to footballer David Luiz when Brazil lost to Germany in the World Cup.

“Sometimes people lose and sometimes people win but people only need to be happy.”

*Both books are available from Amazon or samalmond.com. The first costs £2.95 and How to Win at Nearly Everything is £5.95.
