THREE Greater Manchester charities have benefitted from a charity golf day organised by the Federation of Small Businesses.

The not-for-profit small business support organisation arranged the event at Northenden Golf Club on Friday, which saw teams from across the region compete. The event raised £250.

Beneficiaries included blind charity, The Speed of Sight, formed by Sale man Mike Newman; Francis House Children’s Hospice, and the Trafford branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society.

Blind driver Mr Newman recently broke the world land speed record

At the golf day, prizes were given for best individual, best team, nearest the pin, and longest drive.

Simon Edmondson, FSB secretary for the FSB’s south branch, said: “This was the first event of its kind for the FSB locally, and we will be doing it all again next year. Not only did everyone have a great round of golf, but it provided an excellent opportunity for members to network.”
