CYCLISTS across Trafford are being encouraged to get pedalling and take part in a month-long cycling challenge throughout September.

The Better By Cycle challenge is organised by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), which wants individuals and workplaces to sign up, with offers and prizes up for grabs for those taking part.

The challenge rewards people living in Greater Manchester for the cycling journeys they do throughout September, not how far or fast they can cycle.

All cycle journeys logged online will count towards a personal total of ‘BikeMiles’, which can then be exchanged for a number of discounted offers and vouchers.

Weekly and overall prizes will also be up for grabs for people that log their cycle journeys, and any individual who registers as part of a workplace team, will also have their BikeMiles added towards that company’s combined total, in addition to their own personal total.

Prizes are also available for the top three workplaces that average the most cycle journeys during the challenge, including a folding bike, taster sessions at the Manchester Velodrome, and bike maintenance equipment.
