A SECOND person has been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into abuse at a Stretford care home.
On June 2, police received allegations of abuse at the care home.
On June 12, a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault.
The man – who is an employee at the home – has been bailed until August 22.
Following further information received, on August 8, a 29-year-old woman, who is also an employee at the home, was arrested on suspicion of assault on two residents.
She has been bailed until October 2 pending further enquiries.
Police say managers and owners of the home are continuing to cooperate with the police investigation.
Det inspector, Jed Pidd, said: "This investigation stems from concerns raised by a number of 'whistle blowers'.
"They are serious allegations that are the subject of a thorough investigation by specially trained detectives from our public protection investigation unit.
"I want to reassure anyone connected with the home that the current owners and managers are being fully cooperative with our investigation.
"The safeguarding and welfare of current residents remains our top priority.
"If anyone has information about the offences currently under investigation or wants to discuss anything else or raise other concerns I would encourage them to contact us."
An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 7719.
