PUPILS at Tyntesfield Primary School in Sale have raised more than £900 to send six cows to poor communities in Africa.
The youngsters, all in Year One, have been learning about the continent in class and the work of a charity called Send A Cow.
In African villages the animals carry out a range of vital roles, from providing milk to drink, manure for the crops and potentially calves to sell.
The money was raised in a variety of ways, from making t-shirts to a sponsored fun around the field.
Every child who raised cash has been given a certificate and pupils who raised the most from each class were presented with a toy cow on the last day of term.
Each youngster was sponsored by family members.
