ALTRINCHAM will soon be looking blooming lovely - as community groups join forces to spearhead the town’s bid for glory in the RHS North West in Bloom competition.
The recently formed Altrincham Community Team (ACT) is spearheading this ‘Growing for Gold’ campaign and other initiatives to revitalise the town.
Sarah Walmsley, one of the founder members of ACT, said ‘steady progress’ is being made with the floral initiative.
A number of the town centre’s wooden planters are to be moved to other sites around the town and given to community groups, who will take charge of planting to produce a range of colourful displays. The displays will all be based on the ‘Growing for Gold’ theme.
To support the initiative, a fundraising plant sale will take place from 10am on May 31. Residents are asked to support the Altrincham In Bloom campaign by bringing plants and seedlings to the stall in the Stamford Quarter to sell the same day.
Any leftovers will be put to good use in public spaces so that nothing goes to waste. These fundraising sales have been specifically designed so that residents can easily contribute to the town’s ambition of winning the highest accolade in the North West In Bloom competition – a gold award.
