THE Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Dylan Butt, was joined by the Court Leet, Sale Male Voice Choir, residents and visitors to witness the raising of the St George flag outside Altrincham Town Hall.
The ceremony on St George’s Day followed a citizenship ceremony, and some of Trafford's newest citizens joined those gathered to witness the flag raising.
The town crier, Peter Powell, welcomed everyone.
Trafford's only male voice choir, Sale Male Voice Choir performed the national anthem whilst the Mayor raised the flag.
Two new rose bushes, donated by the Court Leet, were planted - 'Rose of England' to commemorate St George’s Day and ‘William Shakespeare’ as a tribute to the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth. They were planted to Ivor Novello's song ‘Rose of England’.
The flag of St George could also be seen flying at Sale and Stretford town halls.
