ALTRINCHAM Film Club Is holding a charity film night in support of Altrincham resident Dr Lydia Bowden who will, in June, do a sponsored walk along the pilgrimage route of Camino de Santiago in Spain.

They will show the 2010 film, The Way by Emilio Estevez, which stars Martin Sheen in the role of a father who heads to Spain to bring home the ashes of his son who has died on the Camino de Santiago. He then decides to take the pilgrimage himself.

Dr Bowden will be walking the 800km route in June in aid of CAFOD and BLISS, the charity which supports premature and sick babies.

She said: “I was looking for a challenge for my 50th birthday. As I am a keen walker, this seemed to be the ideal solution.”

Donations may be sent to www.justgiving.com/teams/Lydia-Bowden.

*The film will be shown at the Cinnamon Club, Bowdon on Thursday, April 24 at 7 pm. Tickets priced £12, including a drink and popcorn, from 07946 704 587. Pay on door.
