THE Manchester Poppy Appeal was hugely successful last year, raising nearly £135,000 for the Royal British Legion.
Locally, the Sale brach raised more than £2,500. Stretford achieved £1,523.86, while Urmston collected more than £1,700.
Vice-president for the Greater Manchester legion, David Forbes was very proud of the total.
He said: “Once again, our splendid cadets have worked tirelessly to raise this fantastic total and we are incredibly proud of our young people for dedicating their own personal time to raise money for others. They are an example to us all.”
The impressive total will be celebrated with an awards ceremony at Newman RC College, Chadderton, on April 8.
