TRAFFORD’S primary and secondary schools have received national praise - with the borough praised for its educational provision by Ofsted.

In its annual report on school performance, the government’s school inspectors acknowledged that Trafford’s performance stood out when compared with other authorities.

The report said: ‘While London boroughs dominate the top of the table, with 15 boroughs in the top 20 for secondary schools, there are local authorities outside London with excellent educational provision.

‘Trafford stands out for having at least 90% of its pupils receiving a good or outstanding standard of education for both primary and secondary schools and is the only authority outside of London to feature in the top 30 for both primary and secondary schools. Moreover, the attainment of White pupils from low income families in Trafford is 10 percentage points above the national level.’ Commenting on this recognition, Executive Councillor Mike Cornes said: “The council remains committed to ensuring every pupil in its primary and secondary schools has the best possible opportunities to learn, develop and achieve their individual potential.

“It is this commitment along with the continuing determination, focus and hard work from our schools, school governors, parents and not least of all pupils that sees Trafford achieving such consistently high standards. While our examination successes are well documented, there is much more to our success, including the wider opportunities and facilities we provide in the classroom and as part of the wide-range of extra-curricular activities on offer.”
