DIABETES UK is encouraging people in Trafford with diabetes to get their free flu vaccine if they have not done so already.
Nearly a third of people under 65 with the condition haven’t been vaccinated and this could lead to serious health problems such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
Pav Kalsi, Diabetes UK’s clinical advisor, said: “People with diabetes are a high-risk group when it comes to getting flu, so it is important they are vaccinated. Having flu can really upset diabetes control and cause blood glucose levels to fluctuate.”
Trafford residents with diabetes who have not yet been vaccinated should contact their GP surgery.
