THE Trafford Centre has been crowned the Heart Safe Shopping Centre of the Year due to having more defibrillators per square foot than any other large mall.
The centre was handed the honour at last week’s UK Heart Safe Awards at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel in Manchester, raising £10,000 on the night.
The got the award for investing in staff training life-saving defibrillators and to provide a cardiac-friendly environment for staff and customers alike.
The ceremony was organised by the charity Hand on Heart, which aims to put defibrillators in schools across the country and raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest.
The charity has provided over 200 defibrillators since 2010 and aims to reduce the number of deaths schoolchildren suffer from cardiac arrests. For details visit handonheart.org.
