AN Old Trafford ecommerce business has announced it turned over £1million in November alone — it’s most successful month to date.

Genie and the Geek was set up by self-confessed ‘Manchester lad’ and entrepreneur Tayyab Akhlaq in 2011 and operates as part of the My1stWish Group Ltd.

Genie and the Geek specialises in online marketplaces and provides a range of services for brands and retailers looking to outsource all, or part of their online sales function.

Managing director, Mr Akhlaq, 31, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have reached this milestone at such an early stage of the business’ life.

“This achievement proves that ecommerce marketplaces are the future of retailing for brands that want to prosper in 2013 and beyond.

“Removing their own picking and packing, photography and stock management services alone can save retailers large sums of money and it enables them to concentrate on what they do best, as well as maximising profits from end of line stock.

“Our wealth of knowledge in this area knows no bounds, so we’re heading into 2013 in a very exciting position.”
