THE curtain came down at the Library Theatre for the final time on Sunday night when the internationally renowned company said goodbye to its spiritual home.

A packed auditorium revelled in the LTC’s past glories on a atage that has been graced by so many famous faces.

Sir Anthony Hopkins, Harry Potter star Richard Griffiths and Sir Patrick Stewart are just some of the acting greats who trod the boards of this intimate and much loved space, located in the bowels of Manchester’s Central Library.

From snippets of Sondheim musicals to bite size pieces of Shakespeare - Griffiths read from The Tempest - the Gala Night really did have something for everybody.

It’ll take four years for the Library to move into its proposed new home, the neighbouring Theatre Royal, but productions are planned at various venues across Greater Manchester, incliding the Lowry.

With people like Chris Honer, the LTC’s artistic director at the helm, the move is certain to be a success.

It’s an exciting prospect, but I did feel a tad emotional as I ascended the steps of thiis fabulous theatre for the very last time. So many memories - so many happy memories.
