I'VE followed Scotland's finest from their days as art punk noiseniks (Captain) to essential indie rockers (100 Broken Windows, The Remote Part) and REM-lite tunesmiths (Warnings/Promises). It seems they've entered yet another new phase: mediocrity.
The elements that made them so vital - originality, fearlessness, energy - have been replaced with mature rock by numbers. This is no When I Argue I See Shapes.
Based on this single, the art students have grown up to be an unoriginal FM rock outfit.
