The jury seems to be out on whether Ellis-Bextor can fade to a dignified exit or find a new level following her two initial solo albums that successfully nurtured her indefinable fan-base.
In truth the lovely English rose eccentricity that flavoured the great and brilliantly titled Murder on the Dancefloor seems somewhat removed from this... a lesser song, noticeably straining to recapture those disco glories.
I like the idea of a modern era Brit disco champ - the new Tina Charles - but do feel that she might be more successful but operating in a truly retro-formula, rather than this tepid half measure.
