ALTRINCHAM Garrick’s next production is billed as a feel-good comedy with songs by Richard Cameron.
Meet the Glee Club - an acapella group who just happen to be Yorkshire miners. Brassed Off meets The Full Monty in this play, set in the summer of 1962.
Five hard-working, hard-drinking miners are collaborating with the church organist to cause a musical sensation at the local gala. One of them, however, has a secret. The result is a series of events which change the miners' lives forever.
Combining raucous humour and superb close-harmony song renditions, The Glee Club is a critically acclaimed comedy, originally produced at the Bush Theatre, London, in 2002.. The play contains male nudity and strong language.
* Altrincham Garrick presents The Glee Club by Richard Cameron from March 12-17 at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from 0161 928 1677 or Altrincham Tourist Information Centre, Stamford New Road, Altrincham.
