SALE Choral Society, augmented by members of Urmston Choral Society (UCS), will perform the recently-produced musical composition entitled ‘Reflections’ at St. John’s Church, Brooklands Road, Sale, on Saturday, November 11, starting at 7.30pm.

Reflections, commissioned by UCS for its 75th anniversary in 2016, was composed by their accompanist Gareth Curtis.

It consists of four movements loosely based on extracts from the Mass and will be conducted by Urmston Choral’s musical director, Julie Parker, with the piano duet accompaniment played by Sale Choral Society’s musical director, Russell Medley, and its deputy musical director, Richard Brocklehurst.

The titles of four movements are ‘Out of the Depths’, ‘Vision’, ‘Song’ and ‘Dismissal’ and the composition lasts about 45 minutes.

The remainder of the concert will be devoted to ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’ written by Vaughan Williams which will be performed by the 60-strong Sale Choral Society, under Russell Medley, with soloists Helen Lacey (soprano) and Thomas Hopkinson (bass).

Joan Ball, chairman of Sale Choral, said: “This musical collaboration came about by a chance meeting between Gareth and me when we discussed his composition of ‘Reflections’. Sale Choral jumped at the chance to perform this work and were even more delighted when some members of Urmston Choral agreed to join us for the performance.”

Tickets cost £10 with no charge for children. They are available from Christine, Tel: 0791 3369823, any Sale Choral member or at the door. For further information, please go to salechoralsoc@gmail.com.
